January is National Mentoring Month!!

As a community-driven, purposeful creative, I truly believe in the power of Mentorship. When done right, it inspires hope, bridges knowledge gaps, motivates, and drives success. However, at its core, it is not us as mentors that are the key success story, it is our mentees.

So often, those who work alongside are separated from what they need to succeed, due to bias, judgment, or even gaps in care. And yet so often what they need is a space to feel safe, to be understood, and to be listened to. As their success starts with genuine acceptance, and acceptance leads to empowerment. And in the end, we all deserve to live an empowered life, whether that resides in art, play, or whichever passion they most seek.

Additionally, kindness is key to supporting those in need. It is knowing that patience on hard days is a lifeline. It is knowing that there is beauty in an angry voice. It is knowing that communication can be hard, but being willing to listen is a grace few offer. And it is knowing that no one is a mistake based on their Lived Experience.

So this month, may we all be patient, kind, loving, and forgiving, not for the success of our business, or the prestige it can offer, but for the sake of those seeking their best life, and may we all be able to embrace the beauty of our journey, creative or otherwise.
